New York Fashion Week, Carlos Campos x Del Toro Fall 2012

Fashion week was an absolute blast as usual. Very successful meetings among other things. But this fashion week was exceptionally special because it was the first where Del Toro officially participated in it. We graced the feet of the Carlos Campos collection on Sunday February 12, 2012 at Milk Studios in the Meatpacking District of New York City.

His collection was outstanding and I must admit the shoes looked stunning. Thanks Carlos!

You see a mix of Wingtips, Oxfords, and Monkstraps from of our fall 2012 collection. All future models shown here: black nappa wingtip/white whole, red suede wingtip/orange sole, black nappa oxford/royal blue sole, natural beige buttero nappa monk strap seen on various models in Carlos Campos clothing.

Del Toro x Street Etiquette

Joshua Kissi : It has been quite some time since Street Etiquette has released any product in collaboration with another great company, but we’re excited to announce the release of these new great shoes. Just in time for New York Fashion Week, limited to only 35 pairs released, think of these as a late holiday gift to our readers who have supported us from the beginning.

We retrieved this amazing tapestry fabric here in New York City, but the shoes were produced in Italy. Travis and I thought it would be kind of cool to take the slipper away from its usual velvet material, and apply some funky tapestry that you can practically wear with anything. Also keep in mind due to the fabric no pair of shoes are exactly the same which is pretty cool.

The launch of our online store is still currently in construction, look for this to launch in the next month or two with product. For the time being for these  particular shoes you can BUY them here at Del Toro’s web shop at retail for $325.00 – These shoes run pretty true to size for most guys, after some good breaking in the comfort level on the shoes are bar none. In general all of the slippers we have are from Del Toro, a Miami based shoe brand who produces/manufactures all of their product in Italy.

We want to thank Matt, everyone at Del Toro, and you guys as always.

Theophilus London in Del Toro

Had the pleasure of meeting Theophilus London yesterday when he made a surprise visit over to #CasaDelToro

He loved the shoes and all and we are already in discussion to get something going on in the future together.

He walked out with Navy Limited Edition Hand Embroidered Crest with Mantaray Stripe and Royal Blue Sole (limited to 35 pairs) and  pair of black classics.

He also copped a Red Intrecciato belt which he donned on stage at his performance at Grand Central in Miami. #mostdope

Del Toro x Man Repeller Fancy Flamingo loafers, $325

But that doesn’t imply Rihanna’s next album coming to fruition. This is more about Hefner kicks and metallic birds. Its been a long time coming, even since before the days of two tone booties that resemble violent weaponry and little cuban men dancing on green velvet grounds, so today in tear-jerking collaborations that rock: Del Toro and myself combine mental beans to create a loafer that so eloquently states another MR mantra: vive le fancy flamingo. The design concept was born last April while still on a burgundy suede Celine trip, unable to refer to humans as humans, in favor of dubbing them tropical vertebrae. Had it been any later, these likely would have been houndstooth-clad, flamingo still on foot. After all, they’re a salute to spring’s tropical prints and an easy insert on the man repeller front. Note the striking comparisons: awkward necks, beaks for mouths, unusual bodies, mile-long legs and, you know, just general fanciness. In the name of asymmetry, I gave the embroidered little dudes some counterparts of another color hue and there you have it: you’re silver, you’re gold, you’re badass, you’re old. Or young, whatever, annihilate my rhyme if you feel like you have to, but buy thee flamingos here.

Dwyane Wade in DT

Had the pleasure of meeting Dwyane Wade last night to give him his 3rd pair of Del Toros. He broke the New Year 2012 at the Shelbourne Hotel with his black on black FLASH embroidered black velvet slippers.

I surprised him with two pairs of CAMO brogues, one classic camo, the other Alaskan Camo. #mostdope

Much love goes out to Calyann Barnett who hooked it all up. Also for packing his 5-game road trip bag. (Yes, that is Dwyane’s travel bag, Paul Frank bag tag, check…)

Grungy Gentleman 2011 Menswear Awards

http://www.grungygentleman.com/2011/12/grungy-gentleman-2011-menswear-awards.html
MENSWEAR BRANDS
Best Runway Show: Michael Bastian Spring 2012
The return of Basty, LeBron James sitting front row next to Stefano Tonchi, a James Dean theme, an infamous nip-slip, and Kanye West "All Of the Lights" bumping.
Pretty fabulous ingredients to a runway show. And as always, the clothes were spectacular. Huge fan of the blazers!
Best Lookbook: Riviera Club Spring 2011
It is amazing what this Santa Barbara crew can do with a pair of well-tailored chinos, a woven, and a washed out hoodie.
Implementing a concept for a lookbook that speaks to its core brand is essential. Riviera Club did just that via boats, booze, cars, and dirt bikes. Well played fellas.
Most Exciting Brand: Band of Outsiders
Scott Sternberg, former Hollywood Agent, is one for theatrics. His clothing line, Band of Outsiders wow'ed us with their West Side Story themed runway show at Pitti Uomo for spring 2012 (see above.)
When Band showed in New York for fall 2011, their show started with models mountain climbing down from the ceiling. If editors were not already happy enough, they had a cookie from Momofuku Milk Bar placed on their seat. Runway is not the end game for the American brand. Their polaroid-style lookbooks have become a major hit too, starring the likes of Andrew Garfield, Aziz Ansari, and Donald Glover to James Marden, Tom Felton and Rupert Grint.
Best New Designer: N. Hoolywood
N. Hoolywood was the surprise of New York Fashion Week for 2011. For their fall '11 show, monotone outerwear consumed the runway,
channeling 1930's mountaineers. Designer, Daisuke Obana followed up in spring 2012 showing at a vintage movie theater,
with models interacting in a movie title sequence (see above), most commonly used in the 1950's and 1960's.
Luckily for us, the collection is given the same amount of attention to detail as the runway shows they produce.
Best Catalogue: GANT
If you do not subscribe to GANT's hard-copy catalogue, I suggest you do yourself a favor and get on that.
Best catalogue in menswear hands down. Look forward to it coming to my mailbox every season. The editorial is outstanding
and timepiece advertisements are flawless. Their GANT Rugger imagery insert inside the book is phenomenal (see above.)
Most Innovative Brand: Junya Watanabe
Fair isle blazers, patch-work outerwear, tartan elbow bads, and a bunch of color. That is the recipe for the coolest Japanese brand on the planet.
Their cult following consists of menswear fiends who understand fabrics and fit. Remember..."if you don't got fit, you don't got shit." Wear with confidence.
Best Designer: Dries Van Noten
"I think I tell enough about myself when I make my clothes and when I show them. I don’t need people to buy clothes for who I am;
I prefer them to buy things that I create," states Dries Van Noten. The man has been doing it for years and continues to show
his audience that style is timeless. More words of wisdom from the man himself, "I don’t like to create head-to-toe outfits.
I prefer to make garments for people to wear in lots of different ways. It’s important that they can make the clothes their own and wear them in any way they want to express what they want to say about themselves." Amen.
Best Shoe Designer: Mark McNairy Bucks, brogues, and saddle shoes, OH MY! The illest footwear designer on the planet, nicknamed McNasty is the king of the shoe game.
Badass should be his middle name. Flowers on top of camouflage? No problem. Bright color soles? Standard.
Best New Shoe Designer: Del Toro Graduated from slippers to a jack of all trades. Perforated espadrilles, camouflage brogues, mantaray slippers are a few of Del Toro's latest creations.
It has been a busy past few months for the Miami based shoe brand. Their Art Basel presentation was the bomb dot com and they put together a radical
pop-up shop in Palm Beach, FL. Be on the lookout next for Italian, handmade belts via Matt Chevallard aka Matty #MostDope.
Best Accessories: Miansai
If you haven't seen a Miansai credit in a magazine, have you picked up a menswear publication in 2011? The coolest bracelet company on
the planet keeps getting cooler. Looking for unique wristwear? Check out Miansai at Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman, Collette, Liberty,
Saturdays, and The Webster. What is Michael Saiger's latest stunt? He just released a 14K Gold iPhone Case, that retails for $10,000.

Toronto Raptors Unveil First NBA Camouflage Jersey

4 days ago ⋅ Lifestyle ⋅ by Alex Maeland ⋅ 8382 Views

As if you needed any more convincing that the recent influx of camo-print fashions still held relevance, the Toronto Raptors announce the NBA’s first ever camouflage jersey. The move to create the camo jerseys is rooted in the Raptors’ ownership group’s support of the Canadian military. The jerseys will make their first official appearance on March 21 as part of the Canadian Forces Night. The print is mocked up in Canadian Disruptive Pattern, a traditional Canadian computer-generated digi-camo that has been used in a variety of climates and military operations through the years since its development. Although the application of the camouflage print aesthetic is questionable, the back-story of this NBA jersey iteration makes it more than mentionable.

Del Toro x Art Basel Shoe Gallery

In the spirit of Art Basel Miami, Del Toro Shoes and Miami Street Art put together a spectacular event. We were able to get 18 amazing artists to design the classic Del Toro slipper, made of canvas, with their own unique style. Even Pharrell Williams designed a pair for the event, but it’s more like he autographed them. Everyone who attended, was amazed with the shoes and the event was a great success. Visit Del Toro Shoes for information about the different styles of shoes that are available. WE LOVE ART BASEL MIAMI!!!
